Selah's 3rd Birthday

I've never really been able to plan correctly for Selah's party...the first year was great, we had beautiful weather and Selah seemed geniuly happy at her birthday. For her second birthday, we had record heat and I was recovering from a terrible stomach virus...so for this birthday, I planned for everything I could imagine. I scheduled the birthday early enough to "beat" the heat, I themed the birthday with Selah's favorite cartoon, Strawberry Shortcake, and I meticulously planned lists through lists in getting everything done....Heck, Valentin even took 4 days off just to get everything just right! Well, we were in for a surprise, we had a cold front come in, high for the day 73 degrees...now to most people that would be pleasant weather, for us, Texicans, that's COLD! But the party must go on, right? So onward we pushed, we woke up at the crack of dawn (6:42 am) set up tables, weathered the winds just to put the tablecovers, poked my fingers countless times trying to get the banner "just right", woke up my children, as Joel put it, "so not-right for a Saturday morning", but we all hustled through and I must say I was pleased with the results. I could have maybe changed Selah's grumpy attitude but it wasn't too terrible...(maybe a little, but hey it's her birthday and she'll cry if she wants to!) I did still manage to get some hecklers but I'm happy.
I'd be foolish to think that this partys happen without the help of people, BIG thank you, of course, to my WONDERFUL and AMAZING husband, who deals with all the phases of my party planning without running away. To my beautiful sister in law who made a delishious strawberry shortcake. To my friend Crystal, for making a show stopping cake, really out did my expectations.
To my sisters Meggie and Liza who not only come to celebrate Selah, but I can always count on them for birthday present time. And lastly to my brother, Israel, who consiously provides the entertainment.
THANK YOU everyone who came to celebrate this beautiful day with my Selah.

The baby sister

Is it always fair to say the baby sister is the spoiled one? My baby sister is turning 29 today and in my case, it's safe to assume this girl is a brat. It was always my mission to protect her, from when she was very little, through her teenage years, through stomach aches and heartaches, to her wedding day and still to this very day, I can only say it's an instinct of mine. I'm most proud of her, she speaks her mind, she doesn't take crap from no one, and she'll always and fiercely have your back. I couldn't ask for a better sister, well, the 3 others are not so bad either....but it's always the baby....
